Change the software without losing your bookkeeping.
Properties, units, contracts, owners, tenants, meters, charges — and the journal entries with their history. Preview before the import, reconciliation after, and a rollback if something is off.
Not just master data — the journal too.
Properties, units, locations
Addresses, property numbers, floor areas and how units map to each property.
Lease agreements
Terms, rent types, rent and prepayments, deposit — per contract, not per person.
Owners and tenants
Master data, addresses, bank details and the link to the respective property.
Meters and readings
Meter numbers, installation location, calibration date and previous years' readings.
Charges and payments
Open items stay open, settled ones stay settled — the balance is correct on the day you move.
Journal entries with accounts and document data
Debit and credit account, amount, document and posting date, period, tax rate. This is the part most migrations leave behind.
Five steps — and one of them undoes everything.
- 01
Export from the old system
One CSV file per area. German decimal commas, semicolons as separators, legacy character sets — we expect all of that.
- 02
Preview, line by line
Every line is classified before anything is written: charge, payment or correction. Whatever cannot be matched is listed visibly instead of quietly disappearing.
- 03
Map the accounts
Your old system's accounts are mapped onto SKR03 — with suggestions you confirm or change. Once confirmed, the mapping applies to every further line.
- 04
Import
Only now is anything written. The run is logged: who, when, which file, how many lines.
- 05
Reconcile — and roll back if needed
Balances are compared against the old system. If something does not match, the entire import is rolled back and the database stands as before. That is why the first attempt need not be the only one.
Honestly: your export file.
Every program exports differently. We read CSV and Excel and have already built the path for one existing third-party format — for yours we will tell you, after a look at the file, what comes across and what has to be entered by hand. No promises made blind.
- One export per area, as CSV or Excel
- Your chart of accounts, if it differs from SKR03
- The cut-off date you want to move on
Send an export to info@savanika.de — anonymised is fine; a few lines are enough to judge the format.
What people actually ask.
What if my current program cannot export CSV?
Almost every one can, often hidden under “Export”, “data exchange” or “save report”. If you find nothing, write to us — we will look at what routes your program offers. If there is none, we will say so.
Do the old entries stay auditable?
Yes. Document date, posting date, period, accounts and tax rate all come across, and the import itself is logged. So it stays traceable which line came from which file.
What happens if the import goes wrong?
It gets rolled back. The import is a bounded run that can be undone completely — not line by line by hand, but as a whole. That is what makes it safe to try.
How long does it take?
The technical part is a matter of minutes. The time goes into checking: mapping accounts, comparing balances, reviewing open items. Plan for half a day if your bookkeeping is at hand.
Does the migration cost extra?
In every plan you run the import yourself in the setup wizard — with preview and rollback. If questions come up, the support included in your plan helps.
